Peacekeeper

Image
Matthew 5:9   “Blessed are the peacekeepers, for they will be called sons of God.” Men were created for violence in action. We are the warriors and the protectors. It is in our design to aggressively fight and defend what we believe in. We were designed to be peacekeepers  In the relentless grind of life, we often find ourselves standing at the crossroads of conflict and resolution. For many men, this journey is marked by trials that challenge not just our strength, but the very core of who we are. After emerging from a challenging season, one that has tested our resolve and challenged our reputations, the idea of being peacekeeper can feel daunting. Yet, it is in these moments of darkness that we have the opportunity to reignite our spirits and restore not only our own lives but also the lives of those around us. Real talk: life hits hard. We’ve all faced moments when our character has been questioned, our integrity put under a microscope, and our masculinity scrutinized. Our...

Man of God 2: Masculinity

Image
About three months ago, I wrote Man of God, based on my personal desire and drive to find righteousness and live in accordance with the masculine design God created for men. This morning I was stirred to re-visit the topic of masculinity and share new perspectives  I have found in my pursuit since I wrote about this in January. The world distorts the essence of manhood, and it’s time to reclaim the true identity God designed for men. It is time to rise as spiritual leaders, warriors of faith, and pillars of strength. Too long have we been bombarded with messages that belittle our strength, vilify our leadership, and encourage us to suppress our God-given desires. But we are not built to cower in the shadows of societal expectations; we are forged to be bold, to stand firm, and to lead with conviction.  1 Corinthians 16:13   “ Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” From the beginning of the world, God breathed life into man and entrusted him ...

Reignited and Restored . This post is about the namesake of my blog. How does a broken man find reignition and restoration? It’s by overcoming the very problems that caused him his downfall. These are the things that broke me and the Biblical methods of overcoming them. They are required to be attacked and recommitted to daily. There is no end. Being Reignited and Restored is not the destination, it’s the daily pursuit. In the relentless pursuit of a life that reflects strength and purpose, it’s easy to become ensnared by the very battles we were meant to conquer. As men, called to be warriors in faith, we face the daunting challenges of bitterness, pride, and emotional apathy that threaten to dim our light and hinder our journey. Yet, there lies a path to being Reignited and Restored , a path that leads us back to the very heart of God, where true strength resides. Bitterness and un-forgiveness can be like heavy shackles, binding us to our past. Ephesians 4:31-32 , commands us to ...

Santiago

Image
I have always been captivated by the ocean. It’s vastness and beauty. On the surface it’s miles and miles of open water, connecting one world to another, waiting to be navigated by a boat. Underneath is a separate world with millions of creatures and parts of earth that remain unexplored. I’ve always imagined my elderly self on the ocean exploring the world by boat. Today I read Ernest Hemingway’s “The Old Man and the Sea” based on these aspirations.  It’s a story about Santiago, an old fisherman who faces immense challenges in his pursuit of a giant marlin. I was expecting an old fishing story, but found that it meant so much more. Santiago’s journey is not just a battle against the sea and catching fish, it’s exploration of resilience, hope, and a test of the human spirit. This reminded  particularly of some verses I read this morning.Romans 5:1-5 and Ephesians 5:11-14 Romans 5:1-5  says that through faith, we have peace with God, and this peace produces perseverance in...

Stand

Image
In a world that constantly demands our attention and pushes us to act, there’s a profound strength in standing firm, being still, and waiting. In our fast-paced lives, we often equate busyness with productivity and action with progress. But sometimes, the bravest choice we can make is to pause, gather our resolve, and trust in God’s plan. As men, we’re often conditioned to be the ones who take charge, to be the problem solvers and the protectors. But true strength isn’t just about being on the front lines; it’s also about knowing when to hold your ground.  Exodus 14:14 :  “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” When facing challenges; whether in careers, relationships, or personal struggles there’s a temptation to rush into action, to react impulsively in an effort to regain control. However, in this chaos, it’s vital to remember that standing firm doesn’t mean being passive; it means being resolute in faith and trusting that God has our back. The act of wait...

Empathy

Image
Masculinity is under attack, but empathy is one of the most masculine traits that get mistaken as softness Empathy is not a weakness; it’s a fierce desire to love deeply and authentically. It’s a relentless pursuit of compassion that demands understanding of another's perspective and mental state. True empathy requires more than mere comprehension; it is the ability to physically feel and cognitively grasp the emotions of others to your very core  Understanding is one thing, but humility is another. Too often, we fall prey to the “not my problem” mindset, allowing this attitude to stifle our empathetic action. The stereotype that men shy away from the “touchy-feely” stuff is pervasive. We’ve been conditioned to believe that expressing emotion makes us soft or weak. Trust me, I’ve been there. I went through Boot Camp, where I was told that if the Navy wanted me to have feelings, they would’ve issued them in my seabag. But here’s the truth: God instilled these emotions in us as men w...
