Reignited and Restored. This post is about the namesake of my blog. How does a broken man find reignition and restoration? It’s by overcoming the very problems that caused him his downfall. These are the things that broke me and the Biblical methods of overcoming them. They are required to be attacked and recommitted to daily. There is no end. Being Reignited and Restored is not the destination, it’s the daily pursuit.
In the relentless pursuit of a life that reflects strength and purpose, it’s easy to become ensnared by the very battles we were meant to conquer. As men, called to be warriors in faith, we face the daunting challenges of bitterness, pride, and emotional apathy that threaten to dim our light and hinder our journey. Yet, there lies a path to being Reignited and Restored, a path that leads us back to the very heart of God, where true strength resides.
Bitterness and un-forgiveness can be like heavy shackles, binding us to our past. Ephesians 4:31-32, commands us to "get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Surrendering our bitterness to God is a radical act of faith. It requires us to lay down our pride and acknowledge that the grace we have received must flow through us to others. With each act of forgiveness, we reclaim our power and reflect the heart of the Father.
Pride, that insidious foe, often masquerades as self-righteousness. It blinds us to our own faults and elevates our own wisdom above God's. Proverbs 16:18 "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall." In breaking the spirit of pride, there is humility that opens our eyes to the truth. It’s essential to ask the Lord to reveal our shortcomings so we can urgently surrender them at His feet. When we acknowledge our need for His grace, we stand tall as warriors, unafraid of the truth, and ready to grow.
Men like to control. Control can trap even the strongest amongst us. We cling to circumstances, trying to dictate outcomes that belong solely to God. Yet, in our surrender, we find freedom. Galatians 5:1 "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free." The Holy Spirit empowers us to release the need to control, breaking the chains of codependency that keep us from trusting fully in God’s plan. As we relinquish our grip, we discover a new strength; one that is anchored in faith rather than fear.
Deception and manipulation clouds our judgment, leading us away from the truth. John 8:32 "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." We must renounce every lie and manipulative behavior, choosing instead to walk in integrity and transparency. As men of God, we are called to be beacons of truth, standing firm against the darkness that seeks to destroy us.
Emotional and spiritual apathy can creep into our lives, dulling our senses and robbing us of our passion. In Revelation 3:15-16, we are warned about being lukewarm. The call to reignite our passion for prayer, worship, and the pursuit of God’s design is urgent. We must pray for the Holy Spirit to stir our hearts into action, breaking the stronghold of complacency. When we fervently seek Him, He ignites our spirit, fueling our desire to advance His kingdom.
Unhealed trauma and hurt can hinder our progress. We must bring our wounds before the Lord, trusting in His ability to heal and restore. Psalm 147:3 "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." By breaking every chain that binds us, God sets us free to walk in newness of life, empowered to break the cycles that have plagued our families for generations.
Rebellion against God’s design is a battle that many of us face. We resist His plans, believing we know better. Yet, Jeremiah 29:11 hypes us up saying, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord. The journey to restoration begins with humility and obedience. We must yield our wills to His, allowing Him to restore order in our lives. In this surrender, we become instruments of His peace, embodying His love in a world desperately in need of it.
In the realm of intimacy, sexual immorality presents a reckless danger that requires our utmost diligence. We are called to be pure and in 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5, we are instructed to "abstain from sexual immorality." As we seek God’s cleansing, He restores our hearts and minds, allowing us to walk in integrity and rebuild trust in our relationships.
Fear and anxiety can sap our strength and paralyze our progress. Yet, Philippians 4:6-7, says we are not to be anxious about anything but, in every situation, to present our requests to God. When we cast our fears upon Him, He fills us with peace that surpasses all understanding. Trusting in His plans, we move forward with courage, knowing that He is with us every step of the way.
Lastly, we must acknowledge spiritual complacency, the silent killer of our faith. In Hebrews 6:1, we are urged to move beyond the basic and press on to maturity. The journey of faith requires intentionality; we must seek to grow and deepen our relationship with God daily. As we draw closer to Him, we reignite the fire within and prepare ourselves to fulfill our calling as warriors of Christ.
In pursuit of being Reignited and Restored, embrace the challenges with a warrior’s heart. With each prayer, surrender the burdens to Him, and trust that He will lead us to victory. Rise up, be confident in our identity as sons of God, and embrace the restoration that awaits us. Through His grace, we are not just survivors; we are conquerors, destined to live out our purpose with passion and power.
