Liberty and Fire

Courage has always been the dividing line between men who rise and men who shrink. Fear never disappears. The question is what you do with it. Do you bow, or do you stand? Do you retreat, or do you advance?

Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.” - Mark Twain

The men who built this nation understood that freedom demands disobedience. Disobedience to tyranny, disobedience to lies, disobedience to anything that would enslave the soul.  Men who blindly obey culture, men who swallow every lie, men who conform to every demand do not remain free for long.

“Disobedience is the true foundation of liberty. The obedient must be slaves.”Henry David Thoreau

Acts 5:29 We must obey God rather than men.”

True freedom requires courage. True courage requires faith. The Bible is filled with men who refused to bow: Daniel in the lions’ den, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fire, Peter and John before the Sanhedrin. These men stood against kings, against mobs, against governments and their strength only came from God.

In every battle comes a time when both sides consider themselves beaten; then he who continues to attack wins.” -Gen. Ulysses S. Grant

Victory does not belong to the strongest. It belongs to the man who refuses to quit. The enemy knows this. Satan doesn’t need to kill every man. He only needs to exhaust them into surrender. A man of God who refuses to quit is a man the enemy fears.

Galatians 6:9 “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

“Those who give up any essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”Benjamin Franklin

Safety without freedom is slavery. Comfort without truth is poison. We are not designed to live safe lives. We are created to live faithful, dangerous, and courageous ones.

If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without bloodshed, if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you—and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.” -Winston Churchill

That is the essence of manhood and faith. To fight when it is easier to quit. To stand when it is easier to bow. To attack when the world says retreat.

Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

We live in a time when men are pressured to trade freedom for comfort, courage for passivity, conviction for silence. But history teaches us that every liberty worth having is bought with blood, discipline, and fire. The founders understood it. The prophets declared it. The apostles lived it.

From ear will not vanish, safety will not save you, obedience to lies will not protect you. Courage, perseverance, and faith are the only path to freedom.

Men of God, this is the moment. Refuse to surrender. Resist lies. Disobey tyranny. Lead your homes, your churches, and your communities with unshakable courage. Be the man who does not quit. Be the man who advances when the world thinks it’s over. Be the man who stands when everyone else bows.
