Let Them

Image
Life’s too short to let others dictate how you feel. When people talk behind your back, let them. When they try to steal your joy, let them. Even if they’re scheming to destroy your happiness, let them. You’ve got bigger fish to fry. When you’re walking in alignment with God’s purpose for your life, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper”   Isaiah 54:17 . That’s a promise you can bank on. Listen up: negativity and gossip are everywhere. It’s easy to get pulled into the drama, to let those toxic voices seep into your mind. But here’s the cold truth: their opinions don’t define you. Their words have no power unless you give it to them. You need to stand firm and refuse to let anyone else control your narrative. You’re in the driver’s seat of your life, and it’s time to take the wheel. God’s leading you into something far greater than you can imagine. Every moment you waste worrying about what someone else thinks is a moment you could be investing in your own growth. Philippians ...

Provision

Image
In life, just like on the fire ground, we often find ourselves confronting chaos, uncertainty, and challenges that seem insurmountable. But here’s the deal: God has a plan. He’s got our backs. Provision is not just about what we need in the moment; it’s about the foresight and wisdom He provides if we’re willing to listen and act. Proverbs 3:5-6   “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” That’s the essence of trust and obedience—two crucial elements in our faith walk. Think about the role of an incident commander running a structure fire. They’re the ones who hold the big picture in mind, making strategic decisions that might not always make sense to the crews on the ground. When the heat is on, and the flames are roaring, the last thing you need is confusion. Each firefighter must trust that those orders, sometimes given in the heat of the moment, are for the greater goo...

The Ladder

Image
Recently I have been assigned to the ladder truck. Today, I was standing in the bucket, high above my city, looking out across the trees and buildings, and I thought about how much of a privilege this career is. What an honor it is to serve and to be able to climb the ladder.   Firefighters stand at the front lines of chaos and courage, where specific moments demand not just skill but a fierce, sacrificial love that is the driving force. In this line of work, we aren't just battling flames; we're waging war against fear and despair. We were built for a higher purpose, like John Eldredge says in Wild at Heart “Deep in his heart, every man longs for a battle to fight, an adventure to live, and a beauty to rescue.” This battle is ours, and we embrace it with ferocity.  Every time we climb the ladder, we’re not just reaching new heights; we’re reaching into the very depths of human need. Our mission goes beyond extinguishing fires; it’s about saving lives and restoring hope. Eac...

Awakening

Image
We're in a war. A war not of flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places ( Ephesians 6:12 ). And too many are walking around blindfolded, shackled by deception, and playing right into the enemy's hands. It's time to rip off the blindfold, shatter the chains, and unleash the warrior within. It's time to recognize that the enemy is not flesh and blood, but the spiritual forces that seek to keep you from your true potential and destiny in Christ. This battle requires vigilance, discernment, and a willingness to confront the lies that have taken root in your mind. James 1:8   "a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways." How many people get caught in this trap? One foot in the world, one foot in the Kingdom. Lukewarm. Pathetic. God spits that out ( Revelation 3:16 ). You can't serve two masters ( Matthew 6:24 ). Choose this day wh...
